What Do You Say?
We live in an age where it is easy to hear what others are saying. Social media expounds the opinions of others. The online world is full of prophetic words, faith declarations and articles on what the Lord is currently speaking over His people. There is some very good material online. Words regarding the future give us something to aspire to. Scriptural insight gives us truth to build our life on. There are testimonies and the stories of others that encourage us and strengthen our faith. Recently however, I felt the Lord challenge me by asking, “What do you say?” What do you say about your life, about your future, about the prospect of your dreams?
It’s not what other people are saying but what we are saying that will shape our lives. The power of declaration belongs to us, and we can use it to determine what will be revealed in our future. It is what we own and confess that will bring forth fruit. We can hear the voice of God in the statement of another, but ultimately, we need to hear from the Lord for ourselves. Romans 10 says that it is in the hearing that faith comes (Romans 10:17). When we hear what the Lord is specifically speaking to us, that word is called a rhema. It is a word that is full of God’s life and power. It imparts to us the faith necessary to live what has been revealed.
Don’t just rely on what others are saying. Receive a revelation for yourself. God wants to speak to you. He promised that His sheep will hear His voice (John 10:27). What He speaks carries the weight of His presence and the promise of fulfilment. It does not rest in who we are but relies upon the One who is faithful and true. As you hear, begin to speak. Declare over your own life the words that God has spoken to your heart.
