What A Saviour

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:13

We were once far off, separated from God by sin, but now we have been brought near by the blood that was shed on Calvary. Now there is no separation between us and God. That is why we can come boldly to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). Such boldness declares that we are trusting in a righteousness that is not our own. It is a righteousness that is not founded upon our works but is based upon His love and His goodness.

Jesus meant it when He said, “it is finished” (John. 19:30). Justice has been fully satisfied, forgiveness has been released and every need has been supplied. There is nothing we can do to add to what Jesus accomplished on the cross. He did it all. Our role is simply to believe (John 6:29). Yet so often we want to do, to add to, or to qualify in some way. As if the activities of the created, can complete and perfect those of the Creator!

How humbling it is for us, to simply believe. Yet out of the child-like faith that declares, “You did it all” comes the receiving of all that has been provided. Forgiveness, healing, and wholeness are ours. Goodness and mercy follow us all the days of our lives. And we shall dwell with Him, in His house, forever (Psalm. 23:6).

He is good, and no good thing is lacking, because He didn’t consider the cost. Instead, He considered those He came to love. What a Saviour!
