Releasing Enemies

When we remember that Jesus paid for all our sins, we start to realise that He paid for those of others as well. All of us were His enemy, yet he paid the price in full for our hurtful deeds and hateful words.

All sin has been dealt with at the cross. He has paid the full price for my sin and for those who have sinned against me. Jesus has paid for the sins of my enemies, my accusers and those who have offended and brought me pain.

Just as I need to receive forgiveness, so I also need to give forgiveness. The healing of my soul requires both. True freedom only comes as I release my sin and theirs. Forgiveness deals with the pain I have caused others. Forgiveness deals with the pain that others have caused me.

God has already forgiven. Now it is my turn to forgive. I have freely received, and I can freely give. It is not because it does not matter. It mattered enough for God to die for the sins of us all. It matters that sin has caused me pain. It matters to God that those who have hurt me, cannot repay me. So, He has paid. He has paid for my pain. He has paid for my release from the heartache and bondage of every sin against me. Now I can walk free from my sin and from theirs. Payment has been made in full. I can live whole and free.
