Unimaginable

It always amazes me that God could become human. A baby lying in a manger – you’re kidding right? God – The God – the Creator of heaven and earth, lying helpless amidst the earth He created. That fact is puzzling and a definite challenge to our pride.

How could One so glorious become helpless? What passion of love would draw the infinite into the finite - for God Himself to put on flesh and live within our world. This truth is amazing.

Just as amazing is the understanding that we, yes us – you and me – can become sons of God. It is one thing for God to limit Himself and somehow squeeze into a human body - but us become sons of God? That is a whole different story. That is taking the small, inconsequential, marred, limited, and fallen, and making them children of God Himself. Surely God can’t be serious? No one in their right mind would give such a position of honor and power to ones so fallen and inept.

This however is the story of God’s love and redemption. He does the impossible, plans the improbable and declares the unimaginable – that we are loved, forgiven, valuable and free.

What a God – what an awesome God! Forever we will stand in His presence knowing that we are loved and accepted. Forever we will recognise that none of this was our doing. It was an act of love, by a God who is love.

It will be easy to cast our crowns at His feet. The reality that we are there, and even have a crown will astound us. Nothing we have done can compare with what He has done, for He has done the unimaginable.
