Courage Comes from a Heart that is Convinced it is Loved
Fear and worry so often talk to us. They tell us of things we do not know and cannot control. Such things make cowards of us all. There is a confidence however that comes from knowing that we are loved – that Papa God cares for us; watches over us and works on our behalf.
Proverbs 28:1 tells us that the righteous are as bold as a lion. Self-righteousness does produce a boldness, but is simply the arrogance of flesh. As such, it is easily undermined by the limitations of our humanity. When we trust in this form of righteousness, our boldness fluctuates. If we are doing well, we are bold and strong - when we are not, our boldness evaporates.
The knowledge that we have Christ’s righteousness, means that our confidence is not swayed by our performance. Our righteousness is anchored in the perfect performance of Christ. Faith based righteousness is therefore never undermined by our own frailty or eroded by the opinions of others. We can be as bold as a lion, for the Lion of Judah has given us His own righteousness.
The confident assurance that we are righteous, makes us bold to declare the promises of God. We have courage in the midst of our circumstances, for we know that all things will work together for our good. Our heavenly Papa is watching over us and those who have gone before us are cheering us on.
We are at peace with God and we have the peace of God. We have the courage of a victor knowing that nothing is greater that what we can handle. Papa has set everything up for our victory and we will overcome.
